Data Cleaning with Open Refine
In most data workflows, the most time-consuming, frustrating, and error-prone tasks are related to preparing data for analysis. A useful aide in this exercise can be Open Refine, software open-sourced by Google in 2012. This workshop will examine the contextual need and limitations, then introduce the basic controls and operations with real-world data. For the hands-on experience, participants are encouraged to bring their own Java-enabled laptops and even problem data sets to work on at the end.
